Learning to play the guitar can be challenging; the one certainty i can tell you is hard work pays off, like anything else in life nothing worth having comes easy. That being said there are a few tips and tricks which will make your guitar lessons really take off.

Find the best quality tutor you can, look for professional guitar teachers with degrees in music and lots of experience teaching.

Organise your practice time; and yes you will have to practice to improve your guitar playing.

Work on small manageable chunks of information, say i will learn and get comfortable playing that new chord or song on the guitar etc.

Don't be too ambitious to start with, loading yourself up with difficult virtuoso music to learn the first year of learning the guitar will probably lead to frustration, and most likely have a negative effect on your guitar playing. Check with your guitar tutor to see what level you're at.

More tips and tricks on learning to play the guitar in my next blog.

Guitar and piano lessons available at eggbrough music lessons, covering Pontefract, Castleford, Knottingley, Selby, Snaith, Goole, Doncaster and Wakefield.

Learning guitar chords, practicing scales, or playing songs can be more accessible with online tools. A VirtualGuitar provides an interactive platform to explore these, often with chord diagrams and playable strings, no downloads needed to start strumming.
